Annual General Meeting 2009


This will be held at Chawton House (GU34 1SJ) on Saturday 18 July, by kind permission of the Trustees of Chawton House Library.

There will be two sessions:

11.30 am

Members only for the business of the AGM.
Reports by the Chairman, the Hon. Secretary, and the Hon. Treasurer.
Questions from members.

12.30 pm

Lunch. Members are invited to bring a picnic. Caterers will provide a lunch if desired, and pre-ordered. (See below).

  2.30 pm

The Address: 'Regulated Hatred' to be given by Matthew Parris.

  3.30 pm

Tea.

  4.45 pm

Evensong at St Nicholas' Church.


Members may bring one guest to the afternoon meeting, for which a charge of £5.00 is made.

A coach will meet the 9.23 am train from Waterloo (no change) which arrives at Alton at 10.38 am; and the 12.23 pm train from Waterloo (no change) which arrives at Alton at 1.37 pm. (It would be advisable to check these times, they are slightly different to last year's times.) A coach will leave Chawton House at 5.30 pm to catch the 6.15 pm train to Waterloo (no change), arriving 7.25 pm.

Members and friends are asked not to bring dogs into the marquee. Cars may not be parked on the lawn beside the House. Car parking is available in the adjoining meadow.

Please apply for tickets not later than 27 June, and be sure to enclose a stamped addressed envelope. Cheques should be payable to the 'Jane Austen Society'. Lunch will be available from the caterer, if paid for in advance (£12.00). Please indicate on the ticket application form how many lunches you require. (Chicken or salmon salad.)
